Out with the old, in with the new.

March 6, 2018

We're a little late in bringing this news to you so by now you are all probably aware of our beloved Facebook and her changes that have been implemented as of February this year. Oh, you haven't heard? Firstly, where have you been? Secondly, you've come to the right place...

As of this year Facebook has changed-up it's algorithm, specifically affecting Facebook Pages. If you're just using Facebook to browse through the latest community news or to see who is newly engaged then don't worry, this won't do much for you personally. It will however affect how much content you actually see on your news feed from pages and brands that you follow.

If you use Facebook Pages for your business, blog, or side-line project, then we are all in the same boat. Facebook's new algorithm means that very few users who follow your Page will actually see your content in their feeds. Maybe you have noticed your impressions per post have gone done dramatically in the past few weeks? This would explain why.

So now what?

As upsetting and frustrating as this is for businesses all over, don't worry. All is not lost. There are still many ways to combat this new algorithm and maximise your reach.

1. Engagement

Facebook's new algorithm can be combated by frequent, organic engagement in the comments section of your posts. This means that getting users to respond to your posts and start a conversation is very important. Pose more questions to your followers, encourage lighthearted debates around interesting topics, find a way to get them involved in the content that you're sharing.

2.The 'See First' option

Direct your followers to select the 'See First' button right next to the 'Like' button. This means that whenever you post something new onto your Facebook Page, when users log on, your posts will be the first thing they see on their feed. Winning!

3. Paid Promotions

When all else fails, there is money. If you hadn't already made use of sponsored posts on Facebook, create a small budget (a little will go a long way) that you can use to promote your posts to a specific audience of your choice. This will ensure they reach a larger audience and your content will not go by unnoticed altogether.

Still not convinced you know how to handle the new and 'improved' Facebook? Well that's what we're here for. Contact us on any of our social media platforms and we'll get back to you as soon as we can. We would love to help you and your business achieve the best results out of your Facebook Page.
