First and foremost, its important to be safe when you travel. Beyond that its important to be SMART. What does this mean?
Fortunately (and unfortunately) in today's day and age technology has been woven so intricately into our lives we are connected whenever and wherever we are. There are hundreds upon hundreds of apps for every different aspect of life you can imagine, all designed to assist us and ultimately make life easier. So of course when it comes to traveling there are apps available to you to take away a bit of the stress - why not use them?
First things first, you want to make sure your trip is planned out properly. Everything from flights to accommodation, sightseeing spots to restaurants etc. All this information can then be stored on an app (such as Google trips) so that all your information is easily accessible and can be found in one place. Itinerary apps also give you the option to share your plans with family or friends so they can track your whereabouts as you travel - for safety purposes of course.
If your airline of choice has an app available as well, make sure you download that as well before hand to check out any important info or specials you can take advantage of while flying/at the airport.
Depending on which country you are traveling to, a translator is a must! The app you can't not have so to speak (see what I did there?). iTranslate is a great app to help with words, phrases and pronunciations of foreign languages. It also allows you to add your 'favourite' or most commonly translated words so you can go back to them later on when needed.
As an added (sometimes oh so necessary) extra, look for a translate app that is available offline so that when you are out of a wifi zone you are still able to make use of the app.
Of course, while travelling you'll be spending a bit, or a lot, of money. An app that helps you track what you are spending and manage your budget can help you foresee any future dilemmas that may arise. A currency converter is also essential when dealing with money to make sure you are spending the amount you think you are and to make sure you are not being ripped off by any locals - believe me, it happens!
Photo Sharing Apps
Now that all the important matters have been attended to, it's time to have some fun! Be sure to take lots of photos and share them with your friends and family using apps such as Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and Twitter. Take advantage of technology that allows you to stay connected wherever you are and FaceTime some friends in a popular tourist attraction to let them feel apart of the journey with you. Half the fun of travelling is getting to share in these amazing experiences with the people in your life.
