What is Digital Transformation?

If you follow us on social media, you'll have noticed a few posts about "Digital Transformation". Here's a brief look at what that really means, in layman's terms.

The business world is changing rapidly and it's becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with these changes. The marketplace is not what it used to be. We are no longer just selling products; and communities are starting to drive innovation, change and revenue in a way that we haven't seen before.

How do you keep on top of this? Some clever companies are investing heavily in digital transformation as a way to get ahead of their competitors and to become an integral part of this new dynamic business world.

Digital transformation is loosely defined as "the integration of digital technology into all areas of a business resulting in fundamental changes to how businesses operate and how they deliver value to customers."

Along with this, comes the internal challenge of being okay with experimenting, failing and learning new digital ways of doing things. Turnaround times for aspects such as design, delivery, customisation etc. need to increase dramatically, for example.

With it comes the need to be more agile, people-oriented, innovative, customer-centric, streamlined, efficient and the ability to induce/leverage opportunities to constantly change the status quo, tapping into new information as well as service-driven revenues.

Hmmm.. it's all getting a bit heavy here, isn't it? To put it simply, things are changing and to keep up, businesses are going digital and thinking about marketing in very different ways. The good news, though, is that due to the frequent, flexible and adaptable nature of social media, it plays an integral part in any digital transformation process.

Don't be scared, be excited!
